Weathered Granite Staddle Stones

Weathered Granite Staddle Stones

Description

Granite staddle stones are architectural, mushroom-shaped stone structures historically used as supporting bases to lift wooden granaries and hayricks off the ground. By elevating the structures, they effectively protected stored crops from dampness and climbing vermin like rats and mice.

Today, while modern construction uses concrete padstones for load-bearing posts, antique and replica granite staddle stones are highly sought after as premium decorative features for gardens, driveways, and landscaping.
